The Horizontal Bar Block can be designed into an island or peninsula accomplishing multiple aesthetic and functional goals simultaneously.
Drawers are designed to contain the same accessories that are used in base unit drawers, creating a flexible but specialized toolbox for cooking and serving.
Spices, knives, napkins, and cutting boards can be stored in the interchangeable openings of the bar block.
The overhang creates a partial bar extension that allows for sitting or standing on the non-working side of the island or peninsula.
The Bar Block received a Chicago Athenaeum 2010 International Good Design Award

The dimensional standardization of the bar block with our cutting boards, which are supplied as part of the bar block system, allow for efficient storage of this sometimes awkward-to-store tool.
The outlet module eliminates the need for the unsightly and inconvenient outlet that building codes otherwise require in the end panel of an island.
The bar block also provides a serving surface, and if kitchen and living area blend together, helps conceal any mess on the counter from view.
